Good Morning Sabah People,

For the third year in a row, we're celebrating the Lunar New Year with a special collection. The Year of the Snake may represent our best work to date: a limited edition Baba, hand-tooled & stained with a colorful & ornate serpent design.

The story starts in Juárez, Mexico where vegetable tanned leather uppers were intricately hand-tooled & stained by the hands of a single local skilled artisan, Yediel Hernández.

In a nod to a long history of cross-border craft, we transported those exquisite uppers to our El Paso, Texas workshop where they were carefully crafted into just 80 pairs of Babas by our team of talented shoemakers.

The artwork, an original creation by our designer, Elaine Shen, was also translated into a luxurious wool scarf produced in Como, Italy; a city known for luxury textile production.

The entire collection, which also includes an Italian Rouge Patent Baba, is now available on the Sabah Portal and at Sabah House New York, in limited quantities. Some pairs may ship immediately; others are indicated to ship in ~2 weeks.

SHOP THE COLLECTION

Hand-tooled & painted in Juárez.

Commonly found on luxury cowboy boots, tooling refers to the embellishment of leather through carving, stamping and staining by hand. It's intricate, tedious and time consuming -- a skill passed down through generations and increasingly difficult to come by.

Crafted in El Paso.

You're familiar with our operation in El Paso, or maybe you're not -- a talented team of 12 shoemakers, some with decades of experience; others new to the craft. Opened in 2022, our El Paso workshop is a design studio; a place we can bring our most creative ideas to life!

A Scarf from Como, Italy.

An original artwork, created by our talented designer, Elaine Shen (shown below in her scarf & Bolos), translated into a luxurious, soft wool scarf made in Como, Italy. The city of Como has long been hailed as an epicenter of textile production, renowned for its centuries-old heritage and expertise in crafting luxurious silk & wool fabrics.
