Good Morning Sabah People,

Today, we introduce the Akşam – a new silhouette and the latest addition to our family of handmade footwear.

We wanted to create something that lived between the ease of a Sabah and the refinement a Bolo. A shoe that felt distinctly ours, but with a more dressed up outsole – something you could wear to the office, out to dinner, and everywhere in between. A shoe that felt just right as we leave summer behind and head into fall.

Akşam means “evening” in Turkish, speaking to the elevated spirit of the shoe. It strikes the balance of being refined, without being too formal… all while maintaining the comfort and character that define our footwear.

Each pair is unstructured and made from soft, buttery leathers — including a rich oiled suede that will shift in tone and develop beautifully with wear. Underfoot is the same buffalo leather we use for our Sabahs and Babas, this time overdyed to match the upper to provide for a richer, more elegant finish and completed with a rubber heel cap for added durability and traction.

We recently took the Akşam to Copenhagen, where it felt immediately at home among the city’s thoughtful design, effortless style, and crisp autumn air. But this is a shoe designed to go wherever your days and, of course, evenings might take you.

The Akşam is now available in five colors online and at our Sabah Houses.

I love to dress up — even when the situation doesn’t necessarily call for it — and we designed the Akşam with exactly that in mind.

I wore my pair all over Copenhagen with casual suiting (as shown above), but also with dark jeans, work pants, sweaters, and chore coats.

Next week, I’m wearing a black suede pair with a tuxedo to a formal event in New York. And later this month, my favorite — the Kahve (dark brown) Suede — with another suit to a wedding in Northern California.

The point is: the Akşam can go just about anywhere.

We created the Akşam to bring the iconic Sabah shape into something more refined – sitting somewhere between a slipper and a loafer. They were designed to be lightweight, super soft, and undeniably glove-like right out of the box.

Where to Next?

While in Copenhagen, we met up with our friend and chef at Amator, Mati Pichci, who spent the day introducing us to his favorite cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops around the city. There’s nothing quite like exploring a new place with a creative and culinary local! Excited to share more of this story next week.
