Dream Come True: Grower Champagne Every Day
|
|
 From the buyer
This 100% estate grown, 100% Meunier bottling has to be tasted to be believed. No short cuts have been taken—the vines are painstakingly looked after by JB Jacquesson and the wine aged for three years on the lees with 50% reserves from the four previous years. What is the catch? There is none... We buy this direct from JB and then sell it to you. The wine is clean, full of pastry crust aromas and has a long finish that is dry but not austere. Why drink sparkling when you can drink great grower Champagne?

Ben Niedelman, K&L Staff Member · October 9, 2026 Every part of this champagne has been crafted to showcase Jean-Baptiste’s mastery of the Meunier grape. From the moment you first smell the exuberance of the baking spice-and-fruit driven nose, you know you’ve found a winner. The rich, toasty mid-palate reveals hints of warm caramel that can only be found in high-quality champagnes made from 100% Pinot Meunier grapes. With an astounding 50% of the blend coming from reserve wines and aged 3 years on the lees, no other champagne on the market offers this much quality for the price. Don’t let the price-tag fool you, though: this is an extremely delicious bottle of bubbly masquerading as weeknight dinner companion. |

Cary Herrman, K&L Staff Member · October 3, 2026 The Meunier really shines here, giving this Champagne a unique and wonderfully savory profile. Rich, decadent butter notes come through on the palate, but there’s plenty of bright acidity to keep everything fresh and balanced. A little richer and more distinctive than your typical Brut, with tons of character. |

Will Blakely, K&L Staff Member An easy pick for any fan of Blanc de Noirs, the Cuvée Tradition presents opulence at a beyond reasonable price. The smell alone conveys the Pinot Meunier's richness exuberantly. Unctuous flavors of dried fruit and candied almonds envelop the palate but finish cleanly. Instantly appealing for anyone who wants more body in their bubbles, this makes a strong case for being one of the best values in Champagne right now. |

Scott Beckerley, K&L Staff Member This earthy, lightly savory 100% Pinot Meunier is everything that I love about the varietal. Rich, yellow fruits (pear and apple), a hint of mushroom and baked caramel. The difference between this one and other producers is that it has a clean finish with a nice hint of minerality and chalk. There are also clean citrus flavors, as well. For those of you who love Blanc de Noirs, this is a must. For those of you unfamiliar with the varietal, this is your chance to try an excellent one that is very reasonably priced. I buy magnums of it, myself. |

Aaron Hughes, K&L Staff Member · July 8, 2025 I've found that Champagnes made with Meunier is so incredibly food friendly, there's a little bit of savoriness in the mid-palate that just makes it match a little bit better than other Champagnes for me. This is no exception. There's a lovely leesy toast on this, kind of like a toasted baguette, accompanying soft floral red notes, like raspberry flowers and strawberry buds, accompanied by a little honeysuckle. The palate is strikingly delicious, crisp green apple doused with lemon and a little bit of chalk, umami notes and then moving into a soft and pretty floral finish, with apple blossoms and orange flowers playing about. This is absolutely fantastic and extremely well priced. This shouldn't last, so make sure to get what you can now. |

Matthew Landau Hassan, K&L Staff Member · September 28, 2025 This Champagne shows the character of pure Pinot Meunier: a generous, fruit-forward style with approachable charm. The nose gives ripe apple, white peach, and a touch of honeysuckle, layered with subtle pastry and almond notes. On the palate it’s rounded and supple, with flavors of stone fruit and citrus zest balanced by a fine chalky minerality. The mousse is delicate yet persistent, carrying through to a clean, slightly floral finish. A well-crafted grower Champagne that’s both elegant and inviting — ideal for aperitif or alongside lighter dishes like sushi or creamy cheeses. |

| This all estate-grown Champagne is pure Pinot Meunier from vineyards in Troissy. It is on the richer side of brut, and full of exotic spice, fruit, and even some toasty, chanterelle-like notes. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer) |
