This week’s selections take us from the limestone soils of Cahors to the cool coastal vineyards of Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills, with three wines that put a distinctive sense of place front and center. First, we're pleased to announce 2022 Château du Perry Malbec Cahors is back in stock! Coming in at under $15, complete with a laudatory 93-point review from Wine Enthusiast, it’s a terrific bottle for fans of rich, fruit-driven Malbec. Made from 100% Malbec and aged in large oak casks before resting in concrete, it has the depth Cahors is known for without sacrificing its generous, easygoing character. We recently secured a tiny parcel of this popular vintage, and this may be our last opportunity to offer it. Next, the 2021 Solomon Hills "Estate" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay captures the cool, maritime side of California Chardonnay, balancing concentration with a distinctly saline edge. Citrus, mineral, herbal notes, and a touch of spice give the wine plenty of dimension, while 16 months on the lees add richness and texture. Our Insider’s Advantage price is $35 below its previous price, making this the perfect time to enjoy a little Chardonnay luxury for less. Finally, the 2022 Peake Ranch "John Sebastiano Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah shows the darker, more savory side of the appellation. From a vineyard on the eastern edge of Sta. Rita Hills, it layers dark fruit with violets, spice, and a touch of Rhône-esque gaminess, all carried by a rich, structured palate. It’s a serious expression of the site, with the depth and tannic structure to reward a few years in the cellar. Check out the full Peake Ranch line-up here.
