OUR HOUSE LABELS August 2026 For fifty years, K&L has built relationships that give us access to wines and spirits most retailers never see. Our private labels are one of the best examples. Producers sometimes have exceptional wine, barrels, or casks they cannot sell cheaply under their own name without undermining their market price, so we become the backchannel. That only works because we are incredibly selective. These are not bought off a spreadsheet or because the deal looks good. Our buyers taste constantly and reject well over 99% of what is offered. The result is a family of labels, that now span the Discovery Series to Maison 76, Anonymous Wine Collective, and our private casks, built around one simple idea: great producers, prices they could never publicly offer, and K&L customers getting the benefit.

RENDEZ-VOUS
Two French blends we assemble ourselves, both $12.99.
Rendez-Vous began with wines that didn't quite fit. While searching out bottles for the Discovery Series, I kept encountering wines of incredible quality and value that fell outside that label's mold — and that realization became Rendez-Vous: a home for wines we believe will become staples in your weeknight rotation. Our Côtes du Rhône Villages was built at the table with our friends at Dauvergne et Ranvier, blind-tasting through dozens of lots until we landed on a Syrah-led blend with a core of raspberry fruit, black pepper, and savory spice — it truly overdelivers for the price. Our newest addition comes from Touraine, whose clay-limestone and calcareous soils share much with its far more famous neighbor a couple of hours east, Sancerre. The 2024 is everything I look for here: sleek, vibrant, and mineral-driven, with lemon oil, fresh verbena, and a lightly chalky finish. Exceptional quality at an everyday price — that's the whole idea. Santé — we have a feeling we'll be seeing you again soon.

MAISON 76
Côte des Blancs Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, $44.99.
What a bottle! The lavish use of reserve wines in this bottling really sets it apart from anything else that we have in stock; this wine has a texture, a drinkability, and a hidden complexity that is rare to find in any bottle, let alone one that is under $50. The value that our exclusive partnership with Bonville, built over decades, has delivered here is top notch. Grand Cru, especially Côte des Blancs Chardonnay Grand Cru, is hardly ever spoken about as a bargain, but this is an exception.
It has always been my dream to supply the Champagne drinker, and better yet, the Champagne lover, with top notch wines that can be purchased by the case and consumed. For me, this is a bottling that's made my dream come true. All I wanted in it was everything: classy baguette toast, subtle white flowers, a creamy texture, and a fresh finish with chalky minerality for days. And, as usual, the Bonville family delivered!

ANONYMOUS WINE COLLECTIVE
Great California Vineyards, Undisclosed
The Anonymous Wine Collective project is without doubt one of the most exciting projects I've ever worked on in my almost 15 years with K&L. I've explored incredible vineyards in the faraway lands of New Zealand and South Africa to build our Southern Hemisphere Direct Import program. I've tasted five decades worth of Monte Bello from 3- and 6-liter formats. I've tasted hundreds of wines spanning the entire career of Josh Jensen at Calera Estate... and countless other unforgettable experiences. However, the Anonymous Wine Collective project inspires me so much because it has the ability to impact so many people, both customers and winemakers alike. We can bring unbelievable wines at unbelievable prices to customers, while supporting winemakers with cash flow and upfront commitments that are dependable and projectable. With the huge amount of trust and recognition K&L has built over 50 years in the business, plus my own deep personal connections to great producers across California and beyond, I strongly believe that the sky is the limit for what we can achieve with this range of wines.

THE SPIRITS WE BOTTLE
Single casks and house batches, picked by David Othenin-Girard.
Faultline, Every Drop, and the casks we choose ourselves
Faultline is K&L’s own spirits label, created nearly 15 years ago with a simple premise: if we were going to put our name on a bottle, the liquid inside had to be something we genuinely believed we could do better ourselves. Sometimes that means finding an extraordinary single cask, sometimes collaborating directly with a producer, and sometimes taking great components and blending them into something none of them could be on their own. No product better represents that philosophy than Faultline Bourbon.
First released in 2012, the original Faultline Bourbon became one of the defining spirits of the program, blending mature MGP bourbons of different ages and mashbills into a rich, spicy 100-proof whiskey that remained a fixture on our shelves for years. When access to whiskey of that quality disappeared, so did Faultline Bourbon. We refused to recreate it with lesser stocks simply to keep the brand alive. Nearly a decade later, great mature MGP bourbon is available to us again, and the king of Faultline has finally returned.

Before there was K&L Wine Merchants, there was K&L Liquors. That was the name on the door when we opened in 1976, and nearly 50 years later we’ve revived it as the banner for a new generation of spirits bottled directly under the K&L name. If Faultline represents our freedom to collaborate, blend, and experiment, K&L Liquors is something even more personal: spirits we believe are exceptional enough to carry our name front and center.
The range can take many forms. Our current 10-year-old Balblair, finished in tiny ex-XO Cognac octaves, is a perfect example. We stumbled onto an extraordinary parcel of Highland malt that had already undergone an ambitious maturation program, but circumstances allowed us to acquire it at a fraction of what it would cost to recreate. Rather than build a new brand around it, we bottled it simply as K&L Liquors. That’s the idea: when an opportunity is truly special, we want our customers to know exactly who is standing behind the bottle.
Then there’s Every Drop, our dedicated label for K&L-exclusive Kentucky bourbon. Revived from a historic American whiskey trademark, Every Drop gives us a permanent home for the barrels and batches we source directly from Kentucky, from extraordinary old stocks to younger whiskies selected and blended specifically for us. Together, K&L Liquors and Every Drop bring the philosophy we’ve followed since 1976 full circle: go directly to the source, find something exceptional, and put our own name behind it.

For well over a decade, K&L has built one of the most extensive exclusive spirits programs in the country around a very simple idea: go to the source, taste through the options, and select the best. We’ve picked hundreds of individual casks over the years, from Kentucky bourbon and rye to single malt Scotch, always looking for barrels that show something distinctive beyond the standard bottling.
But K&L Barrel Selections goes far beyond whiskey. We’ve selected individual casks of Armagnac and Cognac, private barrels of rum and tequila, special batches of mezcal, and exclusive lots of liqueurs and other spirits from producers around the world. These aren’t K&L brands. They’re bottlings from producers we believe in, chosen specifically for us and available only through K&L.
The format may change, from a single barrel to a tiny batch, but the idea never does: taste everything, choose what stands out, and bring our customers something they simply can’t get anywhere else.
