2022 Lail "Blueprint" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $100)

A wine you never see at this price. Our price today is $20 lower than our closest competitor, and $40 lower than the national average! This special Insider's Advantage price on a benchmark Napa Cab is unlikely to ever be seen again. This beautifully crafted wine is composed of an intricate selection of fruit sources across the length and breadth of the Valley. Lail's "Blueprint" Cabernet is often one of the finest examples of a true appellation wide blend favoring broad but meticulous selections of top quality fruit to give a true expression of the vintage.

The purity and polish here is astounding. Though that's not really surprising when you consider that the wine is crafted by Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky, two of the countries most celebrated and accomplished winemakers. A nose of creme de cassis, lavender, black raspberry, cedar, subtle cocoa powder and new leather. Fine, elegant, poised tannins, give lovely form to the wine that doesn't show any of the over-ripeness that plagues some 2022s. The precision and clarity of fruit here is something to behold. I doubt this price will last long, so if you're reading this act fast without hesitation.

94 points Int'l Wine Review: "The structure and concentration are impressive, with layers of lush dark fruit accented by a touchof underlying acidity that brings a refreshing energy to each sip, lingering through the long finish.Altogether, this is an excellent value Cabernet that will be accessible early and should also have anice evolution over the next decade."

93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blue and black fruit with undertones of cocoa, graphite, violets, potpourri and spices. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with a silky texture and fine tannins, showing black olives, dried herbs and an earth-driven finish. Nicely balanced and fresh, with early-drinking appeal." (10/2025)

93 points Wine Advocate: "Sourced from 11 different sites in the Napa Valley, Lail's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueprint is a fine value, sometimes available locally (in Napa) at a discount to the quoted suggested retail price. Sophisticated aromas of crushed stone and dried herbs accent mixed red and black cherries on the nose, plus there's an appealing, savory hint of dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied, the wine exhibits a silky feel and mouthwatering acids on the palate. Drink this easy-drinking vintage over the next decade or so. (JC)" (02/2025)

92 points Vinous: "The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueprint, Robin Lail's entry-level Cabernet, is a total knockout. Racy and supple, with gorgeous fruit, the 2022 offers notable appeal. Succulent dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and licorice build effortlessly. Soft, plush contours wrap it all together in style. The 2022 is pure pleasure. (AG)" (12/2024)
