2023 Benmar "Pino" Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (Elsewhere $40) ($17.95) "A beautifully composed wine with drive and precision. An absolute joy to sip...” — Decanter, 95 Points Another absolute winner from Benmar! This boutique, husband-and-wife project is on a roll, producing seriously impressive wines at incredibly modest price points—not to mention racking up monster scores along the way. They’ve quickly become some of the best-selling and most requested wines in our inventory. This cleverly named cuvée takes the Greek word "Pino," meaning “to imbibe,” and puts it on a bottle that makes you want to do exactly that. What a deliciously crushable Pinot Noir—so pure, fresh, and quaffable. Most of the fruit comes from a famed vineyard in the heart of the Dundee Hills. While there’s an NDA preventing them from disclosing the name, we can say it’s top-tier. The Dundee Hills fruit is artfully blended with a parcel from Yamhill-Carlton and a splash from the Chehalem Mountains, rounding out a beautifully balanced and vibrant bottle of wine. The nose combines savory forest floor elements with dark cherry and warming spice. Deeply red-fruited on the palate, it’s silky and refined, with savory, earthy touches peeking through the spiced cherry and forest berry notes. Very well-rounded and eminently drinkable—an incredible value for our Insider’s Advantage members at under $20! -Ryan Woodhouse, K&L Domestic Wine Buyer ![]()
95 points Decanter: "Bright cherry and conifer notes lift from the glass, offering an inviting and aromatic introduction. The palate shows excellent tension and tannic grip, with coiled acidity framing a medley of crunchy red-toned fruits, baking spices, and salinemineral loamy earth. Its a beautifully composed wine with drive and precision an absolute joy to sip, plenty of fruitspice nuance to keep you intrigued, glass after glasssourced half from the Dundee Hills, with the remainder split between Eola-Amity Hills and Yamhill-Carlton. (JC)" (02/2025)
"Pino" has just the right balance of a subtle floral nose, well-structured red fruit palate, and lingering wood-spiced finish for an incredible price. This fun and fresh pinot noir can be dressed up or down for both casual and serious dinners, offering incredible approachability and flexibility.
Pino is Greek for "to imbibe" and this charming Willamette Valley Pinot is lucid, gleaming, and ready to imbibe. Vibrant cherry for days, cranberry and warm spices with freshly plucked red rose petals strewn throughout. This is so versatile-pair with duck and lentils, light snacks with friends, or just a glass as a treat at the end of the day. For under $20 it's a tremendous value! |
