K&L In-Store Tastings: Cellar Classics, Best of Greece

Greetings K&L friends!

The rosters are set for this weekend's in-store tastings, so please mark your calendars for an evening (or two) of fascinating and fun exploration with your fellow wine lovers and our K&L staff. Read below for more details on this week's themes.

K&L Wine Club Members - join us on the first Thursday of each month to taste a selection from all 6 of our wine clubs and pick up your current club shipment. This event is complimentary for our wine club members and their guests!

Greece has a fascinating winemaking heritage that spans millennia. Since at least the 8th century BC, viticulture has been a cornerstone of Greek culture and nowdays, viticulture can be found in every corner of Greece. The country offers a remarkable array of flavors and styles that reflect its diverse landscapes and rich history. From the sun-soaked mountains of Macedonia on the mainland, to the picturesque islands of Santorini and Crete, the country’s unique terroirs contribute to the distinct characteristics found in each bottle. As you explore these wines, you’ll discover how tradition and innovation intertwine to create exceptional offerings that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Tim Grimes of JVS Imports will be sharing some of the best of what three different regions of Scotland have to offer. He’ll feature Kilchoman from Islay and its predominately Sherry influenced Sanaig. Also, a lovely dram from Nc'nean Distillery in the Highlands and their core Organic Single Malt. Last but not least he’ll pour a special and limited expression from the island distillery Isle of Raasay and their Dùn Cana expression. This phenomenal Whisky contains both peated and unpeated spirit first matured in Rye casks before a second maturation in PX and Oloroso Sherry Quarter Casks.

Join us at all four locations for an epic Celebration of Collectible Classics. If you've ever pondered the substance behind the hype of the world's finest wines, this tasting presents an excellent chance to judge for yourself. Both collectors and novices will revel in an array of cult-collectibles, along with some of our own selections that we believe deserve a place in the finest cellars.

Our staff is eager to pour some of the most exceptional Champagnes on the market, including the latest release of Krug, the 172nd edition, and a Bordeaux Blanc from one of the most storied houses in all of France, Chateau Mouton Rothschild. We'll be serving an older vintage of one of the most highly awarded estates in all of Napa -- Dominus. We don't want to give away all of the surprises, so we'll leave a bit to the imagination. As we anticipate demand to far exceed available tickets, we recommend booking your spot now to partake in this unique and unforgettable tasting!

Saint Benevolence was founded in 2017 with the joint intentions of sharing third generation distiller and co-founder Gueillant Dorcinvil's beautiful Haitian rum with the world, and supporting economic and healthcare efforts on the ground in Haiti. Every 6-pack case sold funds a week of chemotherapy for a Haitian cancer patient, cancer being a leading cause of death in women in Haiti. To enjoy Saint Benevolence Rum is to "Drink to Goodness" or "Bwason Pou Bonte". Tasting also includes a sample cocktail.

A group of our favorite artisanal grower/producers will be flying in from France to present their wines exclusively to K&L guests. Producers include Aspasie, Coutelas, Alexandre Le Brun, Baron Fuente, Boulard Bauquaire, Damien Hugot, Franck Bonville, Petiau, and Derot-Delugny. This is a rare opportunity to engage with the people that grow the grapes and make the wine, and to learn more about their approach to Champagne. We will also have many of the big-name producers on hand to present their selections. From the big houses we will have representatives from Pol Roger, Laurent-Perrier, Billecart-Salmon, Moët & Chandon, Krug, Bollinger, Drappier and more. This is a perfect way to sample bubblies for the upcoming holiday season. For $150 per person plus tax, you will be able to sample more than 50 champagnes, paired with catered hors d’oeuvres.

We strongly encourage using ride share or public transportation for this event as parking is extremely limited.
