Here now. Gone soon. An Armagnac to treasure. L'Encantada 22 Year Old "Del Cassou #32" Bas-Armagnac (Elsewhere $200) (Price: Hidden) "This may be your only chance to snag a great old single barrel from this incredibly unique estate." — David Othenin-Girard, K&L Spirits Buyer |
The stupendous bottler that we've followed from its inception is simply one of the finest brands in any category. But along with its incredible selection of rare and extinct distillers, we've seen a massive increase in prices. I cannot blame them for trying to maximize the value of these incredible brandies. On occasion, however, we still have the opportunity to create incredible value with this amazing brand. The tiny consortium of local Gascogne brandy lovers in Vic-Fezensac has built this brand through an unparalleled passion for the products they sell. We are equally passionate, and when we find deals like this, we have to impress upon our customers how extremely rare and special they are. We won't see a continuous supply of old Del Cassou for less than $100 like this, so this may be your only chance to snag a great old single barrel from this incredibly unique estate. Domaine Del Cassou is a tiny Bas-Armagnac estate in Arthez-d'Armagnac, one of the small, old-school producers that gives the L'Encantada portfolio its cult appeal. Distilled from ancient Baco vines and aged in a wet cellar in 100% Gascon oak, the rich and complex style isn't as barrel-driven as something like Lous Pibous, but is nonetheless extremely concentrated and deep. This stupendous opportunity to improve your Armagnac stash is not going to last indefinitely. Act now or forever pay more for brandy. — David Othenin-Girard, K&L Spirits Buyer

1999 L'Encantada 22 Year Old "Del Cassou #32" Bas-Armagnac (750ml) (Pre-Arrival) (Elsewhere $200) (Price: Hidden) * This pre-arrival product is estimated to be available for pickup or delivery by 05/31/2026.
Independent bottler L'Encantada understands what Armagnac lovers want because that's exactly what they are. This group of Armagnac-loving friends realized that some of the region's small estates were throwing away legendary eau-de-vie to blends made by the big negociants. They offered those estates a premium to retain the stocks for bottling as single casks at full strength. Many of these estates had neither bottled Armagnac nor had any interest in marketing their precious eau-de-vie. But our friends at L'Encantada inherently recognized that the soul of Armagnac exists in its terroir, history, and culture. By blending these exceptional brandies into large blends you strip them of the very soul that makes this spirit so special. L’Encantada is committed to supporting small estates producing traditional Armagnac and bottling single casks at full strength. The results are some of the most special spirits we've ever come across. The Del Cassou estate is located in Arthez D'Armagnac and is planted entirely to Baco, the most iconic grape for aged Armagnac. These original Baco vines are nearly 100 years old and were some of the first of the hybrid grape variety to be planted in the region after the phylloxera crisis. Traditional aging (successive casking) is employed to soften the tannins, but all these brandies see significant time in new oak before being transitioned into used barrels. This special cask was selected exclusively for the U.S. market and represents one of the finest examples of the ancient spirit of southwestern France. |
