Bottled at 52% ABV, with natural color and no chill-filtration, it features parcels from Caol Ila, Laphroaig, Bowmore, and Ardmore. The cask program amplifies the complexity:

• Caol Ila (Palo Cortado sherry butts): oily smoke, toffee, sultana.
• Laphroaig (Marsala barriques): medicinal peat, blueberry jam, dates.
• Bowmore (refill bourbon barrels): floral peat, mango.
• Ardmore (sherry hogsheads): heather honey, barbecue, gentle florals.

A portion of The Peat Monster finished in Spanish red wine casks contributes nutty smoke and bright cherry notes, while recharred American oak parcels add charred herbs, pineapple, and leather. Crafted by former lead whiskymaker James Saxon.

More About K&L's Exclusive Compass Box Bottlings: Compass Box & K&L have always had a special relationship. Since the inception of this remarkable brand 25 years ago, we’ve seen eye to eye on nearly every aspect of the business. It wasn’t until 2011 that we were able to connect with legendary whiskymaker John Glaser about creating an exclusive bottling for K&L. We had access to almost anything at the time, but one trophy eluded us: an exclusive Compass Box.

That changed in 2015, when John Glaser invited our spirits buying team to select an exclusive blend from their stocks. The result was a now-legendary marriage of old peated malt and sherried malt—the birth of 5th & Harrison.

Now, 10 years later, we were both honored and delighted when James Saxon, Compass Box’s Master Blender, agreed to craft a special batch just for us once again. We had a recipe we loved—old peat and heavy sherry—but could they pull it off a second time? Of course they did. The whisky is one of the most complex, old-school, and delicious malts K&L has ever sold, and the pricing is extraordinary: a blend of 24-year-old Caol Ila, 23-year-old Bowmore, and 21-year-old Glendullan in fresh sherry casks. These two sister bottlings include the exact same juice, but each label celebrates these two wonderful cities that we call home.
