Unless you’ve been drinking under a rock lately, you’ve probably heard that the wine business is facing some headwinds right now. A combination of rising costs, oversupply, and shifting consumption patterns has left many folks with a little more wine in their warehouses than they’d like. The good news? There are deals to be made and bargains to be snapped up—and this is one of them. While some in the industry are all doom and gloom, here at K&L we prefer to focus on the positives: we get to drink great bottles at deeply discounted prices! That may not be sustainable forever, but while the market corrects itself, what better time to seek out wines that overdeliver on quality and let you drink like a king? The 2022 Black Aces Rutherford Cabernet is sourced almost entirely from the famed Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, with a touch of fruit from the neighboring Renteria 360 Vineyard in the heart of Rutherford. It’s crafted by renowned winemaker Keith Emerson of Vineyard 29 fame—so fruit from one of Napa’s most historic and celebrated vineyards, made by a 100-point winemaker… all for under $50!? What are you waiting for? Richly saturated and brimming with ripe red fruits, cassis, red currant, bramble, dusty loam, and spice box notes, this wine is silky in texture, vibrant, and beautifully balanced—not overly extracted or dominated by oak. It’s ripe and lush yet refined, showing both purity and approachability. A great, easy-drinking Cabernet that showcases the pedigree of its site. We can’t promise Georges III Cabernet under $50 will come around often, but when it does, we load up—and I strongly encourage you to do the same. Cheers! -Ryan Woodhouse, K&L Domestic Wine Buyer

Sourced from the historic and highly renowned Beckstoffer George III Vineyard in the heart of Rutherford. Amazing pricing on prime Rutherford Cabernet that delivers the goods in every way!
When it comes to California Cabernet, this is one of the best deals going. It's Cru level fruit at an incredible price that is sure to please the collector as well as anyone looking for an exceptional Cabernet. We were convinced this one was priced well north of $100 when we tasted it.
There’s plenty of backstory behind this wine—and I’d point you to our Domestic Buyer, Ryan Woodhouse, for the full tale of how this remarkable opportunity came about. What I will say is just how compelling this wine is in the glass. It’s packed with deeply saturated fruit—think blackberry and black currant in abundance. The palate has an almost Chambord-like richness and texture, with sweet, harmonious tannins that carry through a long, luxurious finish. It’s the kind of wine that immediately calls to mind cult Napa Cab producers like Scarecrow, Harlan, and Schrader. The depth, concentration, and sheer flavor intensity are all here. There’s so much to love—and with all things being equal, it’s unlikely we’ll see a wine this compelling at this price point again anytime soon.
At least once a day, I have a customer come and tell me that they want "one of those big Napa Cab Sauvs, but you know, at more like $50 a bottle," and I am absolutely elated I'm going to have a bottle to put in those people's hands. This is everything you think it is, and everything you want it to be. It's rich and round and got a lot of fruit on the front, blackberry compote, dried cherries, cherry jam, then moving into baking spice, and vanilla barrel toast. The palate is dense and rich, the tannins are really nicely integrated and while you can have this with food, you really don't need to, this is a nice and heavy cocktail red for people who want something serious but not something that they need to chew their way through.
This well-rounded cabernet sauvignon has not only great aging potential, but it is remarkably approachable for drinking right now as well. The firm textural basis and herbal finish balances well with the crunchy red fruit and spice at the forefront. Don't miss out on this exceptional wine at an unbeatable price! |
