"Didier Séguier and his team have made a stellar group of wines in 2018 and these are amongst the stars in Chablis this year..." — John Gilman, View From the Cellar ![]() When we think of "value" in Burgundy, it's typically not in the grand cru category, but this set of library-vintage stunners from Chablis icon William Fèvre offer some of the best bang for your collectible buck in the entire region.

95 points James Suckling: "Sweet apples and pears with some stone and flint on the nose. Full-bodied with tight, focused phenolics that frame the wine nicely and then layers of fruit and lively acidity. Nicely crafted and composed." (09/2020) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Cooling, mossy chalkiness plays on this wines nose, despite the heat of 2018. The palate then displays juicy roundness in the formof ripe, yellow pear pervading chalky depth. Rich lemon-peel notes create contour and add mouthwatering brightness to this concentrated, understated wine that comes with subdued but distinct power. (AK)" (12/2020) 94 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru is far more forthcoming than the Valmur, presenting gorgeous orange, peach, tinned apricot and light pineapple scents that are very seductive. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh. This immediately puts the Valmur in its place with a penetrating, saline finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Superb. (NM)" (09/2020) 94 points John Gilman: "The Domaine Fèvre 2018 Bougros is an outstanding wine in the making. It offers up a sophisticated aromatic constellation of apple, pear, Kimmeridgian chalkiness, tangerine, white flowers and just a hint of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and even more mineral than the nose suggests, with a rock solid core, great cut and grip and a very long, complete and promising finish. Superb juice." (12/2019) 94 points Jasper Morris: "Clean fine lemon yellow. The bouquet is restrained but certainly classy, just taking time to build, as befits a grand cru. White fruit for the most part, underpinned by an excellent saline acid balance, with fine length." (05/2022)
97 points Decanter: "This comes from two parcels, facing east and south-west, respectively, making a very tidy 2.5ha in total. Showing the delicate touch of one of the very best winemakers in Chablis, this is a saline, focused, wonderfully structured Preuses that has plenty of grip and acidity, sappy, bone-dry flavors and remarkable length. (TA)" (07/2019) 95-97 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru is a super-classic expression of this site. Bright, punchy and intensely mineral, the Preuses possesses off-the-charts intensity and exceptional balance, all with the crystalline purity that is the signature of the very best wines from this site. Lemon peel, slate, mint, crushed rocks, white pepper and flowers build into the explosive, palate-staining finish. What a magnificent wine this is. (AG)" (01/2020) 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Funky reduction still dominates this wine's nose with yeasty fumes, but underneath bright lemon notes shine through. The palate comes in with compact concentration and bundled but buffered energy. Drive and verve are packed in 2018's generosity, with a slender, bright core that conveys mouthwatering refreshment. The chalky finish is long and fresh. (AK)" (12/2020) 93-96 points Jasper Morris: "Fine pale lemon colour. Some warmth and spice to the nose, typical of the appellation. Just as you think it is easy-going another dimension of energy cracks on, displaying warmth and sunshine by all means but with enough tension behind. Les Preuses offers a rich ripe finish but has not lost an ounce of balance. As ever the texture here reminds me of cashmere." (05/2019) 95 points John Gilman: "The 2018 les Preuses is even a bit more reserved out of the blocks than the stellar Valmur this year, but it is clearly a wine of enormous potential. The nose delivers a great combination of pear, lemon, straw, kaleidoscopic, chalky minerality, white flowers and a topnote of paraffin. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and still quite primary, with a full-bodied format, a rock solid core and superb cut and backend mineral drive on the very, very long and very promising finish. A simply stellar example of this magical terroir!" (01/2020)
94 points Jasper Morris: "This is not the legendary Côte de Bouguerots bottling, but the regular Bougros which still stood out alongside its peers. The fruit shows grand cru weight and the sunshine quality of the vintage, juicy but well balanced, while the crystalline purity of the finish sets this wine apart." (03/2022) 94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of aniseed and lemon rind with dried apple and pear follow through to a full body. Yet, its tight and layered with a compact palate and plenty of fruit. Needs time to open." (06/2021) 92-94 points Burghound: "A ripe and beautifully layered nose consists of notes of green fruit, citrus, iodine and mineral reduction. The powerful, rich and voluminous big-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density that coats the palate with sap before concluding in an austere, long and vaguely rustic finale. This is an imposing Bougros that should age effortlessly over the next decade plus. *Sweet Spot*" (11/2020) 93 points Wine Advocate: "Aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, clear honey, peach, mint and buttery pastry introduce the 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros, a full-bodied, ample and enveloping wine that's one of the more textural, dramatic wines in the range. Unusually deep and concentrated, its immediate, charming profile belies considerable aging potential this year. (WK)" (08/2021)
95 points Burghound: "This too could be from nowhere else except Chablis with its citrus-tinged aromas of tidal pool, white flowers and shellfish. The racy, intense and painfully intense larger-scaled flavors possess cuts-like-a-knife delineation on the bone-dry and super-saline finish where a distinct bitter lemon quality slowly emerges. This is very classy juice and also built-to-age." (10/2021) 95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses bursts from the glass with scents of orange oil, warm bread, crisp stone fruits and oyster shell. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and enveloping, yields of only 23 hectoliters per hectare mean that it's immensely concentrated, with racy acids and a long, pungently intense finish. (WK)" (08/2021) 93 points Decanter: "A surprisingly lean, direct and focused Grand Cru. Plenty of drive here with pronounced acidity and a mineral freshness to finish. However, there is a lack of complexity at the moment - this will come with another few years in bottle. There is no doubting the purity of fruit - just that the overall effect is rather shy and one-dimensional now. The score reflects future potential. (AH)" (10/2020) 93 points Jasper Morris: "A clear mid lemon yellow. The bouquet is powerfully weighty rather than fine. Depends on what the vineyard is. All in white fruit, with an excellent thread of acidity running across the palate, not quite as persistent as the very best. Lemon notes to finish, more than kimmeridgian salinity." (05/2023)
