2023 Anonymous Wine Collective Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $120) Once again, this is another perfect example of how our Anonymous Wine Collective project can bring sensational value to the table. Here we have a truly luxurious, single vineyard, Oakville Cabernet for under $25! That's almost $100 per bottle savings from the typical price point of Cabernet from this well-known Oakville vineyard. Sitting on the valley floor in alluvial gravel soils, this is prime dirt for rich, lush, sophisticated Oakville Cabernet that is unparalleled around the globe. This was an opportunistic bottling where I was offered the chance to buy a parcel of this wine for a ridiculous price and jumped at it. I mean on paper it looked too good to be true, but after tasting the barrel samples I was all-in with zero hesitation.

We have a long history working with this winery and I already had absolute faith in their winemaking pedigree, but you know, trust but verify! The wine is bursting with suave and sophisticated ripe fruit, creme de cassis, crushed blueberry, graphite notes, luxurious toasted barrel spices framing the incredible purity of fruit. The texture is sublime; ripe, fine tannins, big lush texture, but also great freshness and lift from the exceptional 2023 vintage. This wine is stupidly good for the money.

If we could tell you exactly what it is in the bottle it would probably be gone in 24 hours! But...if we told you what it was we would have to charge you for over $100 a bottle to protect the integrity of the brand. I know what my choice is. I'll let the wine do the talking, and implore you to embrace the unknown, check this wine out, I'm confident it will impress. Just don't be too slow in reloading when you fall in love with it...it's a one time deal that won't be back.

Anonymous Wine Collective Oakville

2023 Anonymous Wine Collective Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $120) ($24.95)

K&L Notes: The latest release in our Anonymous Wine Collective range and this is an absolute doozy! Sourced from a single vineyard in the heart of Oakville. This renowned vineyard has produced many legendary bottles over the years. A 2021 release of this very same vineyard's fruit received 97-points from International Wine Report, 96-points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 96-points Jeb Dunnuck and more! Neighboring vineyards include Groth, Bonny's Vineyard, and Beckstoffer GIII (just across the AVA boundary in Rutherford). This is prime dirt for producing rich, powerful, fruit forward Oakville Cabernet that puts a smile on your face every time. 2023 was a picture-perfect vintage and this wine shows off its beautiful purity of fruit and natural balance from the moderate, long, even growing season. Our Anonymous label lets you drink top notch Oakville Cabernet for an absolute song. A typical bottling from this vineyard sells for in excess of $120. Our commitment to the winery of buying the wine up front and keeping their identity hidden allows us to offer exceptional value for money to our customers. I hope you enjoy! Cheers! There's a super fresh liveliness to this wine, the nose has a touch of a really intense pop of fruit that quickly goes into something very slightly savory, with a touch of dusty umami pushing forth until the finish comes back around, and there's fruit again. The palate has a lot of plum and cherry skin on the front, almost a bit chewy up front, and then there's a little something that threatens to be tertiary later at that mid-point, kind of like the promise of olive and leather. The finish as it pushes out has more of that tertiary promise along with a lot of the black and dusky fruit skins. This is a really delicious bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, something that is going to pair really nicely with a meal, be it something braised, some mushroom madness, or that inevitable steak and fat potato, this provides a compelling mid-week argument.
