This week, we're looking at three wines with an impressive common denominator: 100-point pedigree. Two have earned perfect scores from leading critics, while the third comes from a Napa Valley winemaker with more than a dozen 100-point wines to his credit. From an extraordinary Cabernet bargain to a benchmark Sauternes and one of Chile's most celebrated reds, there's plenty here to capture the attention of wine lovers and collectors alike. First, the 2022 Mitchell Masotti Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is back in stock, bringing an almost unbelievable value along with it. Mitchell Masotti has spent more than a decade working alongside Russell Bevan at Bevan Cellars, helping craft more than a dozen 100-point wines. His own Napa Cabernet delivers the rich, generous style you'd expect from that pedigree, with layers of blackberry, plum, espresso, sweet oak spice, and supple tannins. Typically $70 elsewhere, our $19.95 price makes this a particularly compelling find in a category where genuine bargains are becoming increasingly scarce. Next, the 2023 Suduiraut, Sauternes (375ml) arrives with a perfect 100-point score from Vinous, adding another remarkable chapter to this historic Premier Cru estate. Neighboring Château d'Yquem, Suduiraut has long been one of Sauternes' great names, and the 2023 is a particularly elegant expression. Honeyed citrus, orange blossom, caramelized sugar, and exotic fruit unfold across a silky, beautifully balanced palate, with remarkable freshness beneath its richness. Antonio Galloni calls it "a timeless wine," and with decades of aging potential, this is a lovely opportunity to experience Sauternes at its finest. Finally, the 2021 Clos Apalta Red Blend Valle de Colchagua has just arrived, bringing with it another perfect 100-point score, this time from James Suckling. From the Marnier Lapostolle family's remarkable amphitheater vineyard in Chile's Apalta Valley, this Carménère-led blend combines dark currant fruit with fresh herbs, lavender, spice, and a subtle mineral character. There's richness and depth, certainly, but what makes the 2021 especially appealing is its freshness, beautifully integrated tannins, and seemingly effortless balance. Already captivating, it has the structure to evolve gracefully for decades, offering a compelling look at one of South America's most accomplished estates.
