Joining our lineup of hand-picked selections designed to overdeliver, these two aged Right Bank bottlings—the 2005 K&L Discovery Series Bordeaux, St-Emilion ($19.99) and the 2009 K&L Discovery Series Bordeaux, St-Emilion ($14.99) are extraordinary finds from two of the region’s most celebrated vintages. An excellent opportunity to enjoy bottles with age without the luxury price. Next: Meet a Meunier-led 1er Cru with real pedigree. Duménil (Jany Poret) Brut blends 60% Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% Chardonnay, anchored by 60% reserve wine—all estate fruit from Sacy on the Petite Montagne de Reims. Generous yet brisk, it layers crisp apple, lemon-bar brightness, crusty toast, and brioche over chalk-lined acidity and a satiny mousse. Recently 92 (Wine & Spirits) and 92 (Wine Enthusiast), it’s a standout $32.99 aperitif that’s equally at home with gougères or tarte tatin—or simply a celebratory glass on the patio. Finally, an icon of Priorat, the 2022 Clos Mogador “Gratallops” (mostly Garnacha and Cariñena with a touch of Syrah/Cabernet) delivers the region’s hallmark slate-mineral drive with ripe dark fruit, savory spice, and a long, poised finish. Serious without heaviness, it’s compelling now with a brief decant and built to age. 97 (Wine Advocate), 96 (Tim Atkin). Limited allocation at $119.99.
