One of the newest arrivals in our Discovery Series comes from a producer very near and dear to my heart. Earlier this year, while traveling through the Rhône Valley, I found myself in Gigondas—and of course I had to visit Jean-Baptiste Meunier of Moulin de la Gardette. JB represents one of our longest-running Direct Import relationships in the region, and his wines have always embodied the essentials of great Rhône winemaking: terroir expression, purity of fruit, and a character that reflects both the land and his thoughtful touch. The Anonymous Wine Collective project is without doubt one of the most exciting projects I've ever worked on in my almost 15 years with K&L. I've explored incredible vineyards in the faraway lands of New Zealand and South Africa to build our Southern Hemisphere Direct Import program. I've tasted five decades worth of Monte Bello from 3- and 6-liter formats. I've tasted hundreds of wines spanning the entire career of Josh Jensen at Calera Estate... and countless other unforgettable experiences.

However, the Anonymous Wine Collective project inspires me so much because it has the ability to impact so many people, both customers and winemakers alike. We can bring unbelievable wines at unbelievable prices to customers, while supporting winemakers with cash flow and upfront commitments that are dependable and projectable. With the huge amount of trust and recognition K&L has built over 50 years in the business, plus my own deep personal connections to great producers across California and beyond, I strongly believe that the sky is the limit for what we can achieve with this range of wines.

Bordeaux Discovery Series

Our Bordeaux lineup centers on mature Right-Bank wines and top-vintage Left-Bank classics. The 2005 and 2009 St-Émilions offer fully developed Merlot-driven depth, while the 2016 St-Estèphe brings hallmark structure from an outstanding year. The 2019 Pauillac and Pomerol show the polish and concentration of this benchmark vintage. These are authentic Bordeaux with château-level provenance at unmatched prices.

Italian Discovery Series

The Italian selections capture the best of Piedmont and Tuscany at exceptional value. If you’ve ever wondered what makes K&L’s private-label program so compelling, now’s your chance to explore it with the experts. Our Sommelier Services team, featuring some of the top working sommeliers in the industry, is hosting two special, open-to-the-public tastings at our in-store bars. First up is Sommelier Services Presents: Discover Bordeaux on December 8, followed by Sommelier Services Presents: Discover Italy on December 15. Both events will run from 4–6 PM.

Each tasting offers a guided, educational tour through the region, showcasing the terroir, traditions, and signature styles that inspire our K&L Discovery Series releases.
