K&L Tastings: Two Grand Bordeaux Tastings & More

The rosters are set for this week's in-store tastings, so please mark your calendars for an afternoon (or two) of fascinating and fun exploration with fellow wine and spirit lovers and our K&L staff. Please read below for more details on our upcoming events.

Join us on the second Thursday of every month for our monthly blind tastings and put your palate to the test! As an added bonus, this week’s tasting was curated by Rachael Ryan, MW candidate and our resident Southern Hemisphere/Iberian Buyer!

These all-levels tastings are a fun and engaging way to deepen your wine knowledge—and drink delicious wine, of course! Using only your senses, you’ll attempt to identify the grape variety, region, and even the vintage. Taste your way through a selection of mystery wines from classic regions around the world, with expert guidance from our knowledgeable K&L staff.

Part game, part education, this experience has something for everyone—whether you're new to blind tastings, just starting your wine journey, or a seasoned enthusiast looking to sharpen your skills.

This first evening of our Grand Bordeaux Weekend explores the storied Right Bank, where our featured estates have shaped Saint-Émilion’s identity for generations. Each wine in the lineup reflects a distinct legacy—whether it’s the classical profile of 2009 Magdelaine or the modern precision emerging from Pomerol’s Clos du Clocher—offering a vivid look at what makes this corner of Bordeaux so captivating. Several of these bottles are remarkable values compared with prices seen elsewhere, making this an especially compelling way to experience the region’s historic estates. It’s a can’t-miss tasting for anyone seeking to understand why the Right Bank continues to inspire collectors and new explorers alike.

Day two of our Grand Bordeaux Weekend turns to the Left Bank, where Cabernet-driven blends from estates such as Montrose, Rauzan-Ségla, and the Léoville family reflect the deep gravel soils and long architectural lineage that shape this historic stretch of the Gironde. Each wine brings its own lens on place, revealing how vineyard work and tradition inform these appellations. The lineup illustrates the steady continuity that has defined these communes for generations, offering a grounded look at the practices that have guided them into the modern era. It’s a fantastic experience for collectors and a thoughtful starting point for anyone looking to explore Bordeaux with depth and intention.

We’ll take a tour through Tuscany and Piedmont, stopping off to visit notable wines such as Barolo, Barbera, Brunello, and Super Tuscan blends along the way.
