Meet Your Host: Jeff Porter

Jeff Porter's path to Bordeaux runs through some of the most demanding wine programs in America. As Wine Director at the Michelin-starred Del Posto Ristorante in New York City, and later as Beverage Operations Director for the Bastianich Hospitality Group, he built an expertise managing wine lists of extraordinary depth and complexity — the kind of experience that teaches you not just which wines are great, but why.

Through the Court of Master Sommeliers, Porter developed a particular focus on the relationship between Italian viticulture and Bordeaux-influenced winemaking techniques. That dual perspective is rare, and it shapes everything about how he navigates the region. He understands Bordeaux not just as a place, but as a set of ideas about structure, aging, and what makes a wine worth waiting for.

In 2019, Porter launched his travel docuseries Sip Trip and a private consulting practice, adding Casa di Langa in Piedmont and the Barclays Center to a portfolio that spans continents and disciplines. As a Wine Enthusiast Tasting Panel reviewer, he brings the same rigor he applies to blind evaluation to every estate visit, every tasting, and every meal planned for this journey.
