Kia ora -,

Whakapapa has been transformed this week with epic snowfalls. 20 cms at the base and more than 50 cms up top at the Knoll T-bar. It’s a welcome sight, and it finally feels like winter has truly on.

Our teams have been working hard post-storm, with clean-up right across the mountain. From shovelling and de-icing to control work and grooming, everyone has played a part in getting the trails and lifts ready for guests. The Delta Quad now unlocks fresh terrain, including Turtle Run groomed for the first time this year. Rangatira and Happy Valley have also scored a great top-up, with wall-to-wall coverage in the beginner area and more space to spread out on Rockgarden.

The big milestone: the Knoll T-bar is officially open for 2025. This expands access to some of the best terrain on the mountain. The Valley is riding beautifully. Valley Highway is wide and flowing, Bilbos is full of fun lines, and Valley Traverse now links the Knoll T to the Valley. The extra snowfall has widened the terraces, and advanced riders can now drop into the 1st and 3rd Waterfalls for some epic turns.

Now with the Knoll T open, we can really start turning our eyes to the West. There’s plenty of work ahead for our crew and we’ll need the weather to play ball, but the progress has already begun. Each step takes us closer to opening up even more of incredible Whakapapa terrain, and the outlook is looking brighter by the day.

It’s an exciting moment for Whakapapa, with two amazing months of skiing and riding still in front of us. We can’t wait to see you up here.

Mā te wā,

Jarrett Gauci
