San Fran Sim is what Daniel Kempe (@danielkempe), a decade into founding actual startups (Quuu, SocialPacks), does to the tycoon genre: Theme Hospital meets RollerCoaster Tycoon, set in a lovingly legally-distinct San Francisco where you build your company among Goggle, Chirper, and Hacker Mews. Free, in the browser, no account.
🔥 Our Take: The jokes get you in the door, especially the rival that undercuts you to "free, for now." But the sim underneath is real: raise prices and conversion drops, ship without QA and the bugs breed. Kempe has run actual startups, and it shows in what the game chooses to punish. It's never the rival that kills you, it's your own shortcuts, three sprints later. The shareable challenge seeds are the smart bit: everyone starts the same run and compares who went bankrupt in the funnier way. Theme Hospital figured this out in 1997: get the systems right and the satire writes itself. This one gets the systems right.
