Today: a to-do app built by someone who's never written a line of code, a break reminder smart enough to wait its turn, and a keyboard-clicks app with an accessibility feature hiding inside it. Plus a founder's honest post-mortem on a launch that looked like a flop.

yatta! is a to-do list with exactly one decision to make: Today, Later, or Someday, then a little character throws fireworks and shouts "I did it!" when you finish. Yuichiro Honda (@yuichiro_honda), a designer, not a programmer, mocked it up with Claude, posted it on X for fun, watched it hit 140K impressions, then directed the entire build through Claude Code without writing a line of code himself.

🔥 Our Take: Every abandoned to-do app dies the same way: too many buckets, too many decisions before you even start the task. Three options is almost insultingly simple, and that's exactly why it might survive on someone's phone longer than Things ever did. Bullish, mostly because the app that asks the least of you is usually the one still open a year later.

TouchGrass waits for the right moment to remind you to take a break, pausing itself during meetings, calls, and screen recordings instead of firing on a dumb timer. Saran (@touchgrassland) built his first commercial Mac app after training himself to ignore every break reminder that interrupted at the worst possible second, and it never asks for Accessibility permission.

🔥 Our Take: Every break app before this asked for Accessibility permission because that's the easy way to know you're still typing, TouchGrass figured out how to guess from calendar events, media playback, and screen recording state instead. That's a harder problem to solve well, and the tradeoff is it can't literally see your keystrokes, so a break might fire while you're deep in a doc with nothing on the calendar. Worth the trade for never granting an app system-wide access to everything you type.

Birang (@mbirang) also added Key Announcement, a screen-reader feature that speaks each key aloud as you type, built into a keyboard-sound app almost nobody would expect accessibility tooling from.

🔥 Our Take: Most keyboard-sound apps stay a toy forever, one sound board, no way to expand it. KeyOpera 2.0 ships a whole CLI for building and distributing your own format, which is a lot of infrastructure for an app whose job is making clicks. The screen reader feature buried in the same release is the part that'll actually matter, the sound-pack tooling is chasing an audience that might not show up.
