Apparently, I'm onto something...

Hi there,

Every time we're featured in a magazine alongside fragrance giants, I'm still a little awestruck. I want to pull a Sally Field and yell, "You like me. You really like me!" Alas, I simply tuck my hair behind my ear, do a little shimmy, and get back to work.

So when Cosmopolitan tapped master perfumer Zerlina Dubois for its recent article, "Sun-Drenched Fragrances Are This Fall's Most Unexpected Perfume Trend," I was delighted to see Sunday Lime make the cut.

Even better? She touched on the very "it" behind the brand. In uncertain times, we gravitate toward scents that make us feel grounded. Vanillas, gourmands, salt, sun-warmed skin. We're reaching for comfort because, quite simply, we need it.

Here's what she had to say:

"If the salty aspect of these fall solars was most intriguing to you, this one might be your best bet. 'Oui the People Sunday Lime brings the salty dimension into focus,' Dubois says, calling out the notes of salty air and mineral water that mix with jasmine and vanilla. 'The brand's inspiration—time spent with loved ones by the seawall in Guyana—makes it especially relevant to this connection between ocean air, warm skin and human closeness.'"

That last part. Human closeness.

I built so many of our fragrances around that very idea. Around memories of feeling safe, loved, and completely at ease. (Heyyyy, former psychology student here.) I'm willing to bet that if you're a perfume lover, there are a lot of feelings in your collection, too. Bottles that hold comfort, joy, ease, and power.

Actually, power is an interesting one. Because when we want to feel powerful, aren't we also looking for a little safety? I've been working on a power scent and thinking about the undercurrent of power quite a bit.

We'll noodle on that another time.

For now, I'm just grateful to be holding our own among the giants. In all my power, safety, and smell goods.

Scent from my desk,
Karen
