2019 Gramercy Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $60) ($29.95)
"Terrific and well worth seeking out.” — Jeb Dunnuck

It took some work and negotiation, but we secured a stellar deal on this stunning Washington Cabernet from stalwart winery Gramercy. This is a rocking value from a top-tier producer, with fruit sourced from some of the state’s finest sites, including Phinney Hill, Bacchus, and Dionysus. Expect crushed cassis, blackberry, pencil shavings, cedar, gravelly minerals, and hints of lavender and wintergreen—evoking classic Pauillac. Perfectly groomed tannins and subtle oak framing highlight both the fruit’s pedigree and Gramercy’s winemaking prowess. Balanced and true to variety, it’s delicious now and will evolve gracefully for 10+ years. At 50% off MSRP, it’s a stellar buy.

95 points Jeb Dunnuck:
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is terrific and well worth seeking out. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it shows a ruby-purple hue and a Graves-like nose of dark currants, scorched earth, leafy tobacco, and iron. Ripe, round, and seamless on the palate, with medium-bodied richness, it has beautiful tannins and outstanding length. Enjoy it any time over the next 15 years.” (06/2023)
94 points Wine Advocate:
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, opens with a black-fruited core of black-cherry skin, dusty plum, and oak spice before red and purple flowers emerge. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with purity, freshness, and finesse as balanced oak spice grows in intensity alongside juicy, succulent tannins. Layers of complexity unfold, finishing juicy and food-friendly. Ready for action upon release this fall—bravo! (AM)” (05/2023)
94 points Int’l Wine Review:
“Showing a dark ruby-garnet core with a light-purple rim, the 2019 Cabernet—sourced primarily from Phinney Hill and Bacchus vineyards—was aged in 100% French oak (28% new), which lends inviting toasted-spice tones. Blackberries, cassis, and blueberry aromas mingle with violets and dried mint. Tannins are fine and nicely integrated, while medium-plus acidity lifts the finish.(JY)" (03/2023)

Dusky dark-red and black fruits lead the nose—brambleberry and ripe black cherry—framed by dusty earth, a hint of saddle leather, and green peppercorn. The palate tilts hedonistic: rich and full, with creamy fruit up front that shifts to savory tobacco and herbal notes. Both the wine’s density and its lush mouthfeel feel weighty and serious. At a minimum, pair this with a generous baked potato—better yet, a lean steak. The tannins are firm yet well integrated, lending grip without heaviness. Delicious.
