Château de la Charrière

There's a lot to explore in this week's arrivals: a new Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc direct import with real pedigree, a beautifully mature Bordeaux from a landmark vintage, and a critically acclaimed Oregon Pinot Noir at our irresistible Insider's Advantage pricing. Here are three bottles that caught our attention.

First, the 2024 Ahi Ka "Blackmore Vineyard" Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, marks our newest direct import out of Marlborough, made by Blank Canvas winemakers Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker-Thomson MW from grower John Blackmore's single vineyard in Dillon's Point, a site Matt has farmed for two decades and one that rates among Marlborough's finest for the variety. Lime, passionfruit, and gooseberry meet floral, saline notes, with bright acidity and more richness than the price would suggest. It earned 97 points and a Double Gold at the New Zealand International Wine Show, a strong showing for a wine at this price point.

Next, the 2009 Chadenne "La Fleur" Fronsac is the kind of Bordeaux discovery that makes you wonder how it can possibly be this affordable. From the excellent 2009 vintage, it shows floral and wild berry aromas over red and black fruit, lively acidity, and tannins that have resolved into something silky, finishing with the stony minerality typical of Fronsac's clay-limestone hills. It's drinking well now and should continue to evolve for another ten to twenty years, a particularly compelling case-buy option for anyone who enjoys the beauty of a mature, proper claret.

Finally, the 2022 Eyrie Vineyards "Estate" Dundee Hills Pinot Noir draws on fruit from five of Eyrie's certified-organic estate vineyards, farmed with a no-till, regenerative approach on some of the oldest Pinot Noir ground in Oregon. Decanter awarded it 97 points, praising its aromatic complexity, vibrant acidity, and grippy tannins. International Wine Review and Owen Bargreen have each scored it 95 points as well, citing similar notes of red raspberry and wild strawberry, rose petal and orange peel, and fine, silky tannins built to age. At more than 35% off, a savings of $25 a bottle, it's a chance to explore one of Oregon's foundational Pinot producers at an especially attractive price. Check out our other Insider's Advantage offerings from Eyrie Vineyards here.
