Score-Crushing Sonoma White Deal
2022 Stuhlmuller "Estate" Alexander Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $35) ($14.95)
Today we’re offering a truly unbeatable price on a California classic. Stuhlmuller Vineyards has been crafting excellent wines in Alexander Valley for more than 40 years. Their estate pairs meticulous farming with top-notch winemaking, and the results show in every bottle.
This Chardonnay comes from mature plantings of the fabled Upper Barn clone, selected decades ago from nearby Stonestreet Vineyard. The wine is powerful and richly flavored, yet it sees only 6% new oak and spends part of its élevage in large, neutral casks. Native-yeast fermentation and partial malolactic conversion add complexity and focus, while the old vines and deep, gravelly soils contribute richness and minerality.
Given the quality in the glass, the value is extraordinary. There’s generous weight and texture balanced by refreshing acidity and poise—an easy, go-to option for any Chardonnay lover, especially at under $15. Expect notes of white florals, baked pear, wet river stone, salted dough, and a touch of toast. Bold yet beautifully balanced, sealed with a convenient screwcap and styled to please a crowd, this is the bottle to stock up on for summer. It’s priced to disappear quickly—secure yours now.

Wine Enthusiast:
"There's lovely restraint and focus to this native-yeast-fermented and sur-lie-aged wine. This is an acid-driven style, with fresh apple, Bosc pear and lemon blossom aromas swirling around the nose and cascading onto the palate that remains refreshing and vibrant, with a zesty citrus and mineral finish."

Very pretty and classic nose that tilts more towards pear than apple, there's lemon zest and a touch of barrel as well. The palate is creamy and delicious, showing that there's some malo going on, even if it didn't go all the way through.
