Farmhouse & Wild Ales
Wednesday, March 25th ![]() Spring signals a return to beers shaped by farmhouse traditions and spontaneous character, where mixed fermentation, rustic grain bills, and time in wood barrels create layers that shift with each sip. Belgian classics such as Brasserie de Blaugies and Brasserie Fantôme appear alongside American producers including Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, Jester King Brewery, and Russian River Brewing Company, whose breweries have helped shape the modern conversation around saison and wild fermentation in the United States. Expect farmhouse ales touched by pepper and hops, raspberries aged in barrels, and cherry-fermented wild ales—styles rooted in agricultural brewing traditions where many classic saisons were historically produced on winter farms and served to seasonal workers during the warmer months.

Friday, March 27th ![]() This dynamic Rioja tasting examines the ongoing dialogue within Spain’s most historically codified wine region, where long aging regimes and American oak—championed by houses like López de Heredia, which still racks barrels by hand and ages wines for extended periods before release—exist alongside a growing focus on site expression and minimal intervention. Contemporary producers such as Vinos en Voz Baja and Berta Valgañón are part of a movement often noted by critics, emphasizing vineyard-specific bottlings, native fermentations, and a shift away from classification by aging toward origin and farming. Rather than replacing tradition, these evolving approaches expand Rioja’s identity, revealing how both established practices and new perspectives interpret the same Tempranillo-based landscape through different but equally grounded lenses.

Saturday, March 28th
This lineup, featuring some of Australia’s most important wineries, explores how foundational bottlings often serve as the clearest lens into a winery’s identity, drawing on fruit sourcing, blending traditions, and long-established vineyard networks. Houses such as Penfolds, established in 1844, continue multi-regional blending for wines like “Bin 28,” while Yalumba—family-owned since 1849—sources components of “The Signature” from estate vineyards in the Barossa that include plantings dating back decades, reflecting the winery’s long continuity of site stewardship and utilization of old vines. Across regions including Barossa Valley, Margaret River, and Yarra Valley, these selections highlight how historic producers translate site, climate, and house style into accessible expressions without departing from the practices that defined their reputations.
