During the pandemic, farmer Maxi Hernández saw that her community was mostly receiving canned goods. "That's when I said no: this is a necessity." She started growing fresh produce and she's never looked back.
When Maxi talks about the food she grows and the people she feeds, you can't help but smile. She doesn't just light up a room, but her whole community.
Nowadays, she's extending that energy even further by partnering with Oregon Food Bank, a member of the Feeding America network. "The community is big. And although I always say my community, it includes everyone. Everyone is part of the community because we all have to eat," she said.
