Millions of meals

For 43 days last year, the federal government was shut down. More than 40 million people felt the impact of delayed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) distributions and interrupted paychecks.

Many of our neighbors are still feeling the effects. But through all the uncertainty, people just like you came together in record numbers to help each other.

Together, we helped families stay nourished through the unexpected. That is absolutely incredible.

But this is about more than meals. It's about the neighbors who are reached—neighbors like Brittany and her husband, who are both federal workers.

When the shutdown started, Brittany needed some extra help for herself and her family, including her 5-year-old son, to get enough food on the table. She visited No Limits Outreach in Washington, D.C., a partner of the Capital Area Food Bank, which is a Feeding America network partner.

"I did not expect to be visiting a food bank. I've never visited one. I have volunteered in the past, but this never crossed my mind as my life at this point," Brittany says. "Knowing that this is a resource has helped greatly in just being able to get a weekly meal together for my family."

Our community rallying around our neighbors during the shutdown is just one example of how people come together in the movement to end hunger.

Thanks to generous supporters like you, we can respond to emergencies like the government shutdown, help families like Brittany's, and create long-term solutions addressing the root causes of hunger.

Your generosity, your voice, and your actions are all essential. We can end hunger—together.

Thank you for being a part of this movement. We couldn't do it without you.

With gratitude,
