We're almost halfway through Hunger Action Month and have made great progress toward our goal of 1 million actions to help end hunger. However, it looks like you haven't asked your lawmakers to pass a strong farm bill yet. "The patrons that visit our pantry, we have conversations… A lot of them are sacrificing doctor's appointments… not buying the medications that they need for their diseases because they have to make a trade-off of either buying food or paying for their medication." Sidelining health is just one of many ways people facing hunger cope with rising food prices. That's why this Hunger Action Month, we're launching a new goal—1 million actions to help end hunger. Today we're asking you to add your voice: Urge Congress to pass the strongest farm bill possible >> "If a person has to choose between medicine and food, we're not in a good place. And we need to fix it," said Sophia. Essential federal programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) help hardworking families keep food on the table during tough times. Congress can help make sure these programs can meet the growing need by passing a strong farm bill! As Sophia said, "We need to understand that food is medicine." When people have access to the healthy foods they need, when people are fed—their futures are nourished, and they can thrive. Thank you for all you do as we work to help end hunger together.
