Proposed legislation in Congress threatens to cut funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—putting 9.5 billion meals at risk. For comparison, the Feeding America network of food banks, meal programs and church pantries across the country provided 6 billion meals last year. With cuts this big we have to start stocking food bank shelves NOW. We're activating our Community Response Campaign, which supports local food banks in preparing for a sudden spike in demand, to meet this moment.
