I'm James Dean, the creator and illustrator of the Pete the Cat series. Growing up, my family relied on government assistance to help put food on the table. Today, I'm a self-taught artist, and I've brought my real-life cat, Pete, to life in books.

I believe that just as access to books and creativity can shape a child's future, access to nourishing food is essential to their health, education and ability to thrive.

The summer months can be especially difficult for kids and families, when the free and reduced-price school meals millions rely on suddenly disappear. That's why I hope you'll join me in supporting Feeding America today—thanks to a special $250,000 match from Sheryl Sandberg & Tom Bernthal, we have an opportunity to provide twice as many meals this summer and beyond.

Over the summer, Feeding America's network of food banks, pantries and meal programs provide meals to help families fill the gap when they don't have access to school meals. But we can't do it alone.

Together, we can reach our goal to ensure all kids have the resources to thrive this summer. Right now, your gift can go 2X as far to help kids get the food they need >>

Your support helps kids spend their summer learning and growing—giving them the fuel they need to explore their creativity, read a good book and return to school ready to thrive.

Thank you,
