Campaign to End Hunger.

Any day now, the Senate will vote on a bill that would slash funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid by $1 trillion.

It would be the biggest cut to SNAP in history. Losing food and health care benefits at the same time would be catastrophic for our neighbors including families whose grocery bills are just out of reach and seniors and older adults who rely on Medicaid to stay healthy.

Calling your senators right now is the best way to prevent these cuts. Dial 1-646-600-5023 to tell them to vote NO on cuts to SNAP and Medicaid!

It will be quick and easy and only take a few minutes! After you dial, you will hear a prerecorded message then be connected to one of your senators. Once you speak with someone in their office or leave them a voicemail, redial 1-646-600-5023 to be connected to your other senator.

The proposed bill cuts benefits by:

  • Forcing states to absorb some SNAP costs for the first time ever, which means states will have to cut SNAP benefits, cut other vital services, or—the absolute nightmare scenario—stop providing SNAP benefits entirely. Call now to stop it >>
  • Adding even more red tape to SNAP and Medicaid by forcing our neighbors who need help to submit more paperwork and penalizing those who don't. Just dial 1-646-600-5023 now >>
  • Limiting updates to the Thrifty Food Plan, which calculates how much money a family needs to purchase groceries. This means that SNAP benefits won't keep up with changing dietary recommendations. Remember, the average SNAP benefit is still only $6 per person per day! Your voice is crucial >>

The end result will be that fewer children, seniors and people with disabilities will have access to nutritious meals and health care, and that local economies—driven by everyday businesses like grocery stores and doctor's offices—will suffer.

📞 Join us in urging Congress to protect SNAP and Medicaid. Call your lawmakers and say you oppose these cuts! 📞

Sincerely,
