Wine isn’t just a drink—it’s an art form. We recently came across a quote about Domaine de Marcoux that really stuck with us: “Grapes are a product of the land from which they come... An understanding of terroir cannot be complete without knowing the people who uncover it and nurture it...” The Armenier sisters, Catherine and Sophie, are perfect examples—they’re passionate about farming and making wine with respect for the land.
Domaine de Marcoux is tucked in northern Châteauneuf-du-Pape, right next to big names like Château de Beaucastel. Owned by the Armenier family—whose ancestors settled in the area way back in the 1200s—they’ve been pioneers in organic and biodynamic farming long before it was cool. Their wines from Côtes du Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Lirac are classic, authentic, and full of soul.
The 2021 Côtes du Rhône red is a blend of mostly Grenache from 60-year-old vines, with a splash of Syrah and Mourvèdre. It’s bursting with cherry, garrigue, and wild berry aromas. On the palate, it’s juicy, medium-bodied, with fresh acidity, minerality, and smooth tannins.
It’s like getting a taste of Châteauneuf-du-Pape without breaking the bank.
