Weekend Wine Sampling!
Saturday, February 14th, from 12pm to 3pm!

Come down to Wine Library this Saturday to sample a stunning line-up of wines perfect for Valentine's Day, including a 98-point Chardonnay that will blow you away!
Sampling Selection #1:
Monfort Trentodoc Monfort Cuvee 85 Brut
$24.99 on sale

The perfect bottle of bubbles to kick off your Valentine's evening!

The sparkling wine tradition of Monfort was born in 1985 following a dream and a far-sighted vision of Lorenzo Simoni to transform the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from the mountain slopes into high-end metodo classico bubbles. Cuvee 85 is a champagne-esque blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir from the mountainous northern Italian region of Trentino.

A rich and stylish sparkler perfect for any occasion!

91 Points James Suckling:
"Rich and flavorful with a generous, fruit-driven palate. It offers notes of candied lemons, peaches and fresh nuts, with a medium to full body and a creamy texture. Fine and smooth finish. Good concentration and length. Drink now."

Sampling Selection #2:
2023 Errazuriz Pizarras Chardonnay
$59.99 on sale

This is the star of the table this weekend, and every fan of White Burgundy or premium Chardonnay in general needs to give this a try!

Hailing from Chile's Aconcagua Costa D.O., this high-elevation Chardonnay is intense but balanced.

There is only so much we can say about this wine that the massive reviews don't mention. Check them out below and make sure to taste this on Saturday!

98 Points James Suckling:
"An intense chardonnay with aromas of chalk, warm bread, brioche, seashells, stones and lemon zest. Less limey and a bit riper than usual, with a medium- to full-bodied palate and a chalky, mouthwatering finish. The zesty citrus and green apple flavors are strong. This is more complete and less austere and crystal clear than many of their previous vintages, with a richer mouthfeel. Saline and pithy in the finish, with length that’s all about pure lemon zest and seashells. Extension of lees contact to around six months helps increase the texture, with around 35% malolactic fermentation. Drink or hold."

96 Points Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous:
"The 2023 Chardonnay Las Pizarras was fermented entirely in barrel, 12% new, with extended lees-contact and 35% total malolactic fermentation. The 2023 retains the purity that established this cuvée's stature among Chilean coastal Chardonnays but also moderates the austere style to a certain extent. Pure aromas of herbs and green apple emerge, along with orange blossom, hints of papaya and fennel, and a touch of anise. Ginger and beeswax develop with aeration. Moderately rich in the glass, the wine's bright lime flavors contrast with a creamy note on the palate. The profile is notably reductive, with nuances of slate adding tension and a talc-like texture. Delicious."

96 Points Matthew Luczy, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Las Pizarras Chardonnay represents another benchmark iteration of this bottling. It fermented and aged in 300- and 400-liter barrels, with 12% being new, and it underwent partial malolactic conversion. It opens with a crystal-clear nose of stone fruits, white flowers and citrus zest, enlivened by an oceanic freshness. On the palate, it perfectly balances vibrant energy and textural breadth, culminating in a snappy, energetic and focused finish with impressive length—a definitive example of contemporary Chilean Chardonnay."

Sampling Selection #3:
2020 Top Source Columbia Valley Red
$24.99 on sale

This Rhone-style blend punches way above its price point and the top critics agree!

Top Source is a blend of Grenache and Syrah from the Columbia Valley in Washington State. The winery prides itself on sourcing the best fruit possible, hence the name.

With 4 massive scores, this is another example of letting the reviews speak for themselves. Taste this and then grab a bottle for your Valentine!

95 Points Wine Enthusiast:
"Distinctly floral, with earthy violets and oregano joining forces with boysenberries, basil, fresh-turned earth, aged balsamic vinegar and sweet gardenias. The mouthfeel is slick and slippery, with redcurrant, dried cherry, orange peel and sausage roll flavors caressing the palate."

95 Points Owen Bargreen:
"Outstanding in this challenging vintage, the 2020 Top Source Red Wine combines 60% Grenache with the remainder Syrah. This quite honestly smells like a Cayuse wine. The range of aromatics is really outstanding with Umami, hoisin sauce, wet stone, black truffle crudo and suggestions of boysenberry sauce. The palate is beautifully textured, with fantastic finesse and length. The combination of weight, finesse and flavor/aromatic range is downright stunning. Do not sleep on this beauty. Drink 2023-2030."

94 Points Eric Guido, Vinous:
"The 2020 Red Wine Columbia Valley is savory, with a burst of crushed ashen stones and dried blackberries accentuated by spiced citrus and camphor. This is silky-smooth and pliant. Crunchy mineral tones complicate vividly ripe red and blue fruits. The 2020 finishes incredibly long, crisply refreshing with a Violette pastille nuance that lingers on and on. The Columbia Valley Red Wine is juicy and fun yet full of character. It's a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah refined in all neutral oak."

94 Points Sean Sullivan:
"This is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, with a sizable portion of that fruit clearly coming from the stones in Walla Walla Valley. The aromas are exuberant, leading with notes of peat, fresh and dried tobacco, olive brine, crushed violet, wet rock, and a whiff of tangerine. There’s pleasing delicacy while still plenty of intensity to the soft-feeling, savory and umami-filled flavors, accented by olive and mineral notes. The finish sticks around for at least a 30-second count. It’s a stunner and a rare find at this price. 13.5% alcohol. 926 cases produced. TCA-free micro-agglomerated cork."

Sampling Selection #4:
2019 Le Spinaie Brunello Di Montalcino
$34.99 on sale

2019 is an all-time vintage in Montalcino, and the wines are just starting to strut their stuff. The vintage as a whole received a whopping 98 point vintage score from Wine Spectator!

Le Spinae is made by the prestigious Villa Poggio Salvi and represents just how good Brunello can be without having to break the bank.

This is a spectacular wine that we can't wait for everyone to taste. Anyone heading to a BYO Italian spot for Valentine's Day needs to bring this!

94 Points James Suckling:
"Aromas of dark cherries, brambles and fresh, lifted floral notes of violets and lilacs. Medium body and a creamy, round texture with chewy yet polished and juicy tannins. Dense and focused. Succulent and zesty aftertaste. This will age beautifully. Try after 2027."

94 Points winescritic.com:
"Genuine and rich in substance, it is reminiscent of strawberries, red plums, green mandarins, geraniums, magnolias and gardenias. Pressed blueberries, raspberries and blood orange juice describe the secondary scene. Full body, very soft, well-smooth tannins and an enveloping finish of great stylistic precision. Better from 2025."
