Bolgheri in Tuscany is one of the most famous wine regions in the world. Known for legendary names like Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Guado al Tasso and many others. Pricing on all three of those wines continues to increase year after year, which is why the wine we are offering today is by far the most exciting new project in the region ...and like its most famous neighbors, the pricing is likely to rise in the near future. But there is still time to get in on the ground floor!
Tenuta le Colonne is a relatively new winery in Bolgheri, with the Wine Advocate starting reviews in 2015. This particular wine has been reviewed 5 times, with 4 of the 5 vintages scoring 94 or 95 Points (the lone exception was the first vintage which scored 93), so you can get an idea of the consistency here.
Located in Donoratico, the southernmost part of the Bolgheri appellation that overlooks the sea, Tenuta Le Colonne just a 15-minute drive south from world-renowned winery Tenuta San Guido, where Sassicaia is grown and produced. Yes, you read that correctly!
This is a deep and complex blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc, a blend of the same 2 grapes that go into the famed Sassicaia.
To get an idea of just how well this wine stacks up to its much more famous neighbors, take a look below! LOOK at the price difference between the Colonne and the other three!! On top of that, its 94 Point score is just one point off from Ornellaia and two points from Sassicaia and Guado!

"Intense and complex, this red offers a mix of lavender, black currant, plum, iron and wild herb aromas and flavors. Lively acidity keeps this focused, while firm, ripe tannins leave a pleasant grip on the lingering finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2040. 3,700 cases made, 1,000 cases imported." - 94 Points Wine Spectator
"The organic Tenuta le Colonne 2020 Bolgheri Superiore (in a heavy glass bottle) shows sweet-smelling cherry and Jolly Rancher with cedar oak and spice. The wine is full-bodied to be sure, with hints of clove and peppermint to close. The hot-vintage fruit feels rich but not especially complex. This is a very generous blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc. Production is 45,000 bottles." - 94 Points Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
