Tokyo Woven Babas Are Back 🖤

Hi Sabah People,

They're back -- 142 pairs just arrived of our beloved Tokyo Babas, made in El Paso from a veg-tanned, beautifully burnished black leather handwoven in India.

Plus, please meet Millie Twine, our wonderful manager at the new Sabah House Brooklyn, and an avid wearer of Tokyo Babas!

"The Tokyo Baba fell into my hands about 5 months ago & has easily become the workhorse of my Sabah collection," she told us.

From the shop floor to the beach to kicking around Brooklyn, Millie's Tokyo Babas have served her well and have the patina to show it.

Millie continued: "I value elevated versatility & these Babas keep me chic in a variety of scenarios. I like these for laundry day, park strolls, dinner at Place des Fêtes, truly anything. Please, don’t hesitate to indulge for these are worth every penny."

Meet Millie.

Millie was born & raised in Houston, Texas and first joined the Sabah team in 2023 as part of Little Sabah Austin.

Around this time last year, she moved to New York City to be closer to dear friends and blossom as a musician. She joined our Sabah House New York team then too. When we opened up our new Brooklyn shop, it was a no brainer to have Millie lead the team there!

"I've always been drawn to the city, I used to make my dad bring me up here when I was a kid to just walk around and soak up the vibrant energy. Knew I'd end up here someday!" she told us.

Outside of work, Millie loves to indulge in good meals, both out on the town and at home. She's got memberships at Metrograph and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and while she's not really into musicals, "I do love the kooky off-broadway productions." All that to say, a visit to Sabah House Brooklyn often means you're getting into a deep & interesting convo with Millie!

We asked her for a favorite spot in NYC: "Dear Friend in Bed-Stuy is my most frequent hang," she told us. "Great books & wine, and no laptops allowed!"

And Where to Next? we asked.

"I came to the city to figure that out! I don't feel so chained to the rhythm here, so I'm looking to dabble into some mediums outside of music, maybe start a zine, maybe a residency abroad or in the mountains... my mind's eye is the most open it's ever been."

Woven Babas aren't easy to make, which is why we release them in pretty limited batches every couple of months. This run is just around 150 pairs or so... they won't last long!
