Good Afternoon from Mexico City,
I’m writing this note from our friend’s apartment in La Condesa, the dreamy, leafy green neighborhood that's absolutely charming in its easy pace, abundant greenery, colorful architecture and delicious cafes & bars on every corner. There are few better morning strolls, in my opinion, than walking Avenida Amsterdam to get a coffee & pastry at Qūentin Café.
Steven and I just spent the last week here — capturing a few days around town with friends & local creatives, and, of course, mixing work with pleasure by way of great meals, perfect margaritas, art shows, and an afternoon spent scouring the Sunday market at La Lagunilla, big gulp sized Micheladas in hand. This may be my favorite market in the world — antiques & art meet rock n’ roll; micheladas are served with bass-thumping perreo. It's a vibe.
Read on for a little behind-the-scenes from our trip including a few notes you may want to reference for your own CDMX visit. Excited to share more stories too.
Enjoy!
Sincerely, The Sabah Dealer --

Breakfast at Maque (classic spot, the pan con elote & enchiladas verde are special); quesdillas at Mercado Coyocan; tacos at Maizajo & Escándalo; a late lunch at San Angel Inn (wow!) and dinner at the bar at newly opened, Voraz.
Maizajo really blew us away. The owner Santiago invited us to his chef’s table in the middle of the kitchen. We ate some of the best tacos I’ve ever tasted amidst the hustle of his operation which focuses on traditional processes to turn heirloom corn into delicious tortillas. All done right before your eyes. He’s developed a reputation and a line, which forms daily, for his food. We now know why!

I think my favorite experience of the whole trip was Sunday afternoon at La Lagunilla. A new friend, Daniel, the designer behind emerging brand, Bebes Wakareados, and a guy who seem to know everyone as he shakes hands & fist bumps his way through town, was my unofficial guide.
He took me deep into the market where every 50 meters or so we came across a different stand serving oversized Micheladas, with an endless array of sweet or spicy options, alongside a banging playlist, interspersed with various vendors of gorditas, tortas, quesadillas and fried bananas.
Two large Micheladas later and the “shopping” commenced. I left with an original Carlos Mérida print, a vintage belt & trousers, and a few other folk art objects.
I was probably most blown away by a band of gentlemen in their late 60s & early 70s playing perfectly executed rock n’ roll covers to an audience of all ages dancing & kicking up dust under the sun.
This market only happens on Sundays. Get there in the early afternoon as it closes promptly at 6!

We cruised with a great team for three full days -- a mix of creatives, artists, gallerists, and stylists. We toured their city, capturing moments all over town in some of their (and our) favorite spots. Excited to share more soon!
