Good Morning Sabah People,
There are few things more enjoyable in my work than spending time in the factories where we make our shoes and getting to know (and share) the hands & names behind the craft. Something we’ve done since Day 1 in Turkey, more recently in El Paso, and now in Italy…
In this case, below you'll meet Peppe, Enrico, Said, Lorenzo & Rachid in Monte San Giusto, Italy where we make our Alto Boots. We work inside a 50-year-old factory, with views of the hills of Le Marche and the Adriatic sea in the distance, that specializes in a traditional stitch down construction method.
Warm, genuine and dedicated to their work, it is an incredible crew, evidenced by the exceptional quality of the boots we make with them.
We visited to kick off Fall production of our beloved Altos -- with our classic brown, green & black suede now on the Portal and at all Sabah Houses.
Enjoy a little peak into production below!
Sincerely,
The Sabah Dealer --

One of the things I'm most moved by in this factory is the tenure of the team. Everyone has been working for Peppe for over 20 years with several of the shoemakers having been there for nearly 30 years now.
Furthermore, while each craftsperson focuses on a certain step in the process, each is skilled in the entire process and can make a pair of boots from A to Z.

Above is Rachid - originally from Morocco - next year will mark his 30th year making shoes in this exact factory. With a big smile on his face, he welcomed us for cous-cous at his home in our next visit.

|
And that's Peppe, above -- he's been making shoes since he was nine years old, and then opened this factory in the 1970s to specialize in stitch-down construction, a method of shoemaking that's increasingly rare, particularly doing so in the most traditional & proper way.

Said, above, also from Morocco, specializes in attaching the rubber outsole to leather midsole, which requires patience & precision.
Below is Lorenzo, Peppe's son -- he handles the final production steps. Carefully polishing & brushing the outsoles, lacing each pair, and preparing the entire production for shipment to Sabah HQ.

|
Thank you for following along. I couldn't recommend a pair more -- they are truly exquisite!
