Good Morning Sabah People,​ 

Last Fall, we launched a more refined take on our classic Sabah silhouette, The Bolo - our first new style in a very long while.

It was a smash hit, an exquisite example of fine craftsmanship meeting the finest of materials, straight from our El Paso workshop. We've loved seeing them in the world and meeting our small community of Bolo devotees! 

So, today, we re-introduce the Bolo in what is certainly my favorite classic approach: an Italian suede in a beautiful, buttery soft brown.

One other important adjustment -- we've inlaid a half-heel worth of rubber into the double stacked sole for added traction & durability. These Bolos are really a work of art. 

We imagine them being worn in the most sophisticated of settings, dancing & commiserating late into the night; then paired with something more casual the day after for a day around town.

A couple seasons, trips, and parties of wear later, like any Sabah or Babas, they can be resoled to continue on! 

Bolos are made from few, but extremely high quality materials and absolutely nothing synthetic. 

We've used an Italian suede upper leather, a soft veg tan lining and insole, and a double stacked heel developed in partnership with one of Mexico's finest sole tanneries. There's a half-heel's worth of rubber inland for added durability and support.

The result is a pair of shoes that are as easy on the eyes, as on the feet. Our Bolos have a truly unique, sophisticated expression within the world of brown dress shoes.

Last week, we slipped into our new Brown Suede Bolos and took a stroll through Greenpoint, Brooklyn with our friend Yi-Mei Truxes, Founder and Designer of Bembien — a New York–based accessories brand.

Shorts & socks, a pair of crisp blue denim jeans, or loose fitting trousers & a contemporary Guayabera, the Brown Suede Bolos' versatility was on full display. 

Yi-Mei and I connected on craft. Like Sabah, Bembien focuses on artisanal production, originally known for their woven basket bags and now recognized for a wider range of beautiful woven leather goods. Her craftsmanship and leather quality is really exquisite. 

We're also both New Yorkers with businesses based here. In that sense, Yi-Mei is exactly the profile we imaged when designing the Bolo. A pair of shoes she could wear all day to work, criss-crossing the city, and then right out that same evening for a social engagement. 

When asked, Where to Next? Yi-Mei replied...

'I’m heading to Martha’s Vineyard for the week — we stay near the clay cliffs at the far end of the island, where it’s a bit quieter. I’m really looking forward to some slow summer days with my two girls, Finn and June.'
