We restock Baleen Blue every year around this this time: a neutral navy and our most durable, versatile leather for Spring.

Dear Sabah People,

As Spring approaches, I always find myself reaching for one of our most popular colors of all-time: Baleen Blue.

It is one of my favorite leathers not only for it's versatility & sophistication, (and because I love all shades of blue!) but because this style of waxed leather is just so, so dang tough & water resistant.

My personal pair, shown below, has traveled with me, many miles, around the world, and is only better for it -- one of the most beautifully aged Sabahs I own.

Some of the toughest leather
in the world.

Our Baleen Blue is known as a 'Crazy Horse' style leather in the industry -- traditionally used for horse saddles, hence the name.

It's some of the toughest leather in the world... the leather fibers are naturally waxed to be water resistant, and made in such a way that scratches, marks, and hard wear only make it more beautiful over time.

Why so tough? Crazy horse leathers are always full-grain (meaning the leather fibers are fully intact, similar to hardwood verse a ply or composite). Those fibers are then smoothed and waxed, naturally, to enhance the durability of the hide & provide water resistance.

This also lends the leather a unique matte texture, which I love, and also allows for the natural grain & leather characteristics to really shine through with wear.

The only pair I pack!

If I only pack one pair of Sabahs for a trip, it's almost always Baleen Blue -- because I can wear them all day, everyday, and the grey'ish blue goes with just about any outfit.
