This week on The RE—CAP Show, we had Athlete Ally’s Director of Education, a.t. futurya, on the pod. What followed was a conversation that is only the beginning for us here at RE!
What did this episode mean to the RE—team? Check out our answers below!
Tara, TRS Showrunner/Producer
I like to think that part of the mission of The RE—CAP Show is not only to spread the joy of sport, but also to give voice to our community, our people.
Women’s sports inherently exists at the intersection of sport and social justice, and for a few years now, one of the issues most directly impacting our community is trans inclusion. It's been a crucial conversation for us to have, one that we wanted to approach mindfully and meaningfully.
More than anything, we wanted to create a space where people who may not always feel heard could see themselves represented, feel supported, and know that they have a voice with us.
Lexi, Content and Community Manager
In light of this being LGBTQ+ History Month, and with the continued attacks on our trans and queer siblings, this episode feels more important than ever. I am so incredibly proud of the entire team for bringing this episode to life with such intention and care!
In one of the first conversations I had with a.t. and Tara, a.t. mentioned that at the heart of trans folks is reimagination. To me, this episode truly captures that! To bravely and boldly reimagine a world that doesn't make a place for you and your community is daily work, one that unites all of us here at RE with our trans siblings.
At its very best, The RE—CAP Show is more than a show — it's a place where our community feels welcome, safe, and inspired by the conversations we have. No matter what, you will always have a home with us, and that message is stitched into every second of this episode 🖤
