One Year Later - Last week marked one year since Hurricane Helene. The storm changed us—our city, our neighbors, our sense of what it means to take care of one another. But we also watched our Community Partners continue to do exactly what they do best. We caught up with a few of them on what the  year since the storm has looked like.

Introducing Ma Hñäkihu - Our New Community Partner

This quarter, we are partnering with Ma Hñäkihu Language Preservation Project, an organization committed to the revitalization of the Indigenous Hñähñu language, folk arts and culture here in Western North Carolina.

The name broadly means “caring for our language” which, as co-founder, Abel Bueno Gonzales, has said, “is like the blood running in our veins.”
