Chicago’s smaller accounting firms are beefing up — with private equity’s help

Headcount at Chicago’s largest accounting firms was mostly flat to down over the past year while second-tier firms boosted the number of local CPAs to try and realize the benefits of scale the biggest players in the space already enjoy. That's according to Crain's latest list, which ranks accounting firms by the number of local CPAs.

A Premium Plus subscription unlocks access to all of Crain’s lists, including our exclusive analysis and rankings of the area’s largest privately held companies, fastest-growing companies and much more.
