WHEN YOUR PARTNER HATES YOUR BEARD...
Man, oh man, we run into this quite a bit—your significant other isn’t a big fan of the beard.
You’re not alone. How to approach growing a beard when your spouse isn’t feeling it is a recurring topic of conversation in the Alliance (our private online community).
The responses are always great, so we’re sharing some of the advice in case you’re going through the same thing.
1. Have an open and honest conversation about why you want to grow a beard. Talk about how it makes you feel, the joy it brings to your day, and how others ‘see’ you with the beard (maybe a workplace scenario).
2. Show your partner a few pictures of the look you’re going for, and describe what it’s going to take to get there.
3. Set a definitive goal with your partner regarding your beard plans (time or length) and allow for some feedback along the way.
4. Shop for Beard Oils together. Choose scents your partner may appreciate (that you also enjoy) and do your best to wear a scent/style that they’re into from time to time.
5. When you can, head to a barber and get your beard professionally trimmed to help keep it looking its best.
6. Bonus tip: Pay extra attention to stray beard hairs on the bathroom counter and sinks!
Growing a beard can be hard. Hell, growing as a person is too. That’s why we created the Alliance—to bring together growth-minded guys who are actively creating a supportive community.
Once you purchase from Beardbrand three times or spend $150 on a single order, you’ll automatically get access. Plus, Beardbrand Alliance members get free standard shipping on all orders placed.
