The Story Behind the Collaboration

Four years ago I bought a bag from J. Stark, a husband-and-wife run studio in Charleston, SC that handcrafts bags from scratch.

I had heard great things about them, and when my bag arrived it blew my expectations of out the water! Every detail was on point – the stitching, the brass rivets, the leather details, and even the buttery smooth zipper.

In today's world of mass production, this level of meticulous craftsmanship is a hard to come by. This is a “buy it for life” item. It’s the type of bag that your grandkids will find someday – worn in, well loved, and ready for another generation of service. 

Fast forward four years, and I’m still using that same bag as my daily carry and it’s only improved with time. (Scroll down for a comparison photo).

With all this in mind, I reached out to Eric and Jess (founders of J. Stark), about collaborating on a run of custom bags, and I was stoked that they were up for it!  We are grateful to work with people who share our commitment to craftsmanship and hope you will enjoy your bag as much as I have.

J. Stark offers free repairs of manufacturer errors or defects for the life of the bag. 

The Prospect is a modern day take on the classic briefcase with all the right details in all the right places. It’s built like a tank and its streamlined size make it perfect for commuting to work or traveling the globe. The interior includes three small pockets, a larger pocket for a tablet, and the main compartment for up to a 15” laptop.
