Hi everyone—
I’m Fran, co-founder of tomboyx. Like many of you, I’ve been carrying a lot of grief and anger after the tragic killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis. Here at tomboyx, our small team has been talking about it, sitting with it, and trying to figure out how we can show up in a meaningful way.
We also want to name something else we’re seeing in Minneapolis: people showing up for each other. In a moment like this, ‘hero’ can look like a neighbor who brings water, a medic who stays late, a community organizer who coordinates support, or someone who simply checks in and doesn’t let anyone carry this alone.
We know this moment may feel especially heavy or personal for some of you—particularly for immigrant communities and those directly impacted by federal immigration enforcement. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, scared, or exhausted right now, you’re not alone.
In solidarity with the families and communities deeply affected, we’re doubling our monthly charitable donation in February by making an additional contribution to the Women's Foundation of Minnesota. This organization runs an Immigrant Rapid Response Fund to support people doing on-the-ground work during this deeply painful moment.
With care,
