Getting ready to fly and wondering if you can take your favorite CBD products with you? You're not the only one; that is one of the most common questions we get! The answer is probably, but it depends on a few factors.
CBD and the TSA
The TSA's What Can I Bring? website currently only references illegal substances, and hemp-derived CBD products that contain no more than 0.3% THC are legal at the federal level (as of the 2018 Farm Bill)! All of CBDistillery's products fall into this category, meaning all of them are legal under current federal law. (Note: TSA policies can change, so it's a good idea to check the What Can I Bring? website before your trip.)
We recommend taking your CBD in its original container and keeping a printed copy of your product's COA (which you can download from our website) so you can show your products meet the legal requirements of the 2018 Farm Bill.
Carry-On or Checked Bag?
Keep in mind that if your CBD is in your carry-on bag, it is subject to carry-on regulations. If you are taking an oil tincture or a balm, it will be treated like any other liquid or cream. Luckily, all of our tinctures come in bottles that are smaller than the 3.4 liquid ounce limit for carry-on liquids! Just don't forget to include your tincture in your quart-sized liquids bag. Our topical products may be better off flying in checked bags if carried in their original container.
Where Is Your Destination?
If you're flying to another state in the US, remember that some states have imposed their own regulations that may be different than the regulations where you live or federal regulations. It's a good idea to check the restrictions for the state where you will be visiting and any states where you will have a layover to make sure your favorite product meets local regulations.
We don't recommend taking CBD products internationally, as different countries have their own regulations around CBD itself as well as around bringing products into the country.
