As we begin our centennial year, we have exciting news to share about the new dean of Stanford Graduate School of Business and a variety of events to kick off the new year.

SARAH SOULE APPOINTED NEW DEAN OF STANFORD GRADUATE SCHOOL

OF BUSINESS

Sarah A. Soule, a scholar of organizational behavior who has held multiple leadership roles at Stanford, will be the Philip H. Knight Professor and next Dean of Stanford Graduate School of Business. She will start her term in June 2025.

DON’T CONFUSE AMBITION WITH EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP

There’s an old saw — cribbed from Plato and popularized by Douglas Adams — that those people who are most interested in leading others are least suited to the task. That’s not entirely accurate, yet new research has found a grain of truth in this idea: Many leaders have plenty of ambition to lead, but that’s no guarantee others think they’re effective.

MARCH 2025: WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

The Women in Leadership (WiL) conference brings together prospective students, current students, alumnae, and staff for a day of workshops, panel discussions, and networking. Hosted by Stanford GSB Admissions on March 8, 2025, WiL highlights the strong community of women and allies at Stanford GSB who aim to build a supportive network and foster a more equitable and gender-mindful business world.
