Mind your manners
Happy Tuesday, legends. Welcome back to another edition of The Frontier, our weekly newsletter covering the best new AI launches on Product Hunt.
WHAT'S HOT
🙅 Being cruel to Claude is now against the rules. Anthropic's usage policy update on Wednesday bars persistent and unnecessary abuse of its models from 12 November. Ordinary frustration, dark creative writing and red-teaming are all fine, and enforcement is Claude ending the conversation. (CBS News)
📐 OpenAI published 722 math manuscripts, then withdrew three the next day. They claim progress on 372 open problems and come from an internal model OpenAI has not released. Lean formalizations cover the main result of 162 of them. The withdrawals were a sign error. (Retraction Watch)
💰 Eleven companies pledged $2.4 billion in compute to the Department of Energy. Nvidia put up $1 billion, AMD $500 million and OpenAI $200 million, all of it credits rather than cash, for the DOE's Genesis Mission. (AIP)
💸 Nous Research raised $90 million at a $1.5 billion valuation. Robot Ventures led, with Nvidia and Samsung in alongside. The company says its open-source Hermes agent has been cloned 24 million times and accounts for about 2.5% of global AI token usage. (TechCrunch)
🔎 Google's new embedding model puts video, audio, images, code and text in one shared space. EmbeddingGemma 2 is 740M parameters and runs on a phone, needing about 567MB of RAM on a Pixel 11 Pro. Apache 2.0, weights on Hugging Face.

The simplest path to signed
Getting a contract signed shouldn't start with a setup project. Dropbox Sign keeps it to the part you actually wanted: save the templates you reuse, send the signature request, let automatic reminders follow up with anyone who hasn't signed, and see where every agreement stands in one place. Pricing is transparent and predictable, with no envelope caps or overage fees, so teams can plan costs with confidence.
One day left on the Cloud Run Hackathon
The Cloud Run Hackathon is tomorrow, and submissions close tonight at midnight PT. One rule: the product has to be deployed and running on Google Cloud Run. Deploy it, schedule your launch for Wednesday 14 October, and you're in. Every eligible launch gets $50 in Google Cloud credits, and the winners take $500 in credits, a spotlight on Google Cloud's own channels and a 1:1 with the Cloud Run team, who have been on the board all week reading launches and leaving questions.
FROM THE FORUMS
🧪 Your tests agree with your code
Asad's point is that a model writing both reads your request once, so a wrong reading goes green and you have a receipt for it.
📣 Letting the agent post unsupervised
A growing share of PostNitro's users never open the editor now. They ask Claude or ChatGPT and the agent calls the API in the background.
✋ What you still do by hand
Aleksandr's examples: replying to an angry customer, checking an app before you share it, deciding what to build next.
🕰️ It's 1972 for AI at work
Five people left IBM to start SAP in 1972 and the word ERP did not exist for another eighteen years. Tony puts AI at work in the same spot.
🔁 Re-explaining the project again
Ritik keeps losing a few sessions to telling the model what the project is and which decisions are already made.
