Coming straight from our New York Labs, where we just approved today's launch's final fitting this morning.
Meet our latest innovation in 3D Print-Knit technology: our Men's and Women's Ribbed Sweaters.
Why Ribbed? The science is actually quite fascinating:
To start, these garments are knit on demand in our Brooklyn, New York lab. Every single garment is 100% seamless,
with near-zero waste and innately quality controlled. Here's why we went ribbed:
Elasticity (but without elastics):
Ribbing is made by alternating stitches in vertical columns, creating a built-in 'spring'.
The outcome is incredible:
- Rib knits stretch much more horizontally than (traditional) flat knits
- They snap back without needing spandex
- They enable body movement instead of resisting it
That’s why your favorite t-shirt has a ribbed neckline; they stretch to get on, then recover and stay put.
In this case, we just ribbed the entire garment.
Shape retention & longevity:
The timeless art of ribbing impacts shape in a few ways:
- Distributes tension across columns
- Resists permanent deformation
- Maintains its original dimensions longer
As a result, a ribbed sweater usually keeps its silhouette better over years of wear.
Thermal performance
Ribbing creates micro air pockets between raised columns. You've likely seen Gihan talk about the science of insulation before,
and ribbing is no different: air pockets trap heat.
As a bonus, our fit models noted that the vertical ribbing is flattering, and we hope you feel the same way.
